International Film Music Symposium Vienna 2016
This year, from 13th until 14th of October, 2016, the »FIMU – Film Music Symposium Vienna« will again take place as a side event of »Hollywood in Vienna« at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.

Oscar and Grammy winner ALEXANDRE DESPLAT (»THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL«, »HARRY POTTER«, »THE KING’S SPEECH«, »BENJAMIN BUTTON«, »ARGO«) will teach young musicians and filmmakers for the first time in Vienna. The French star composer has composed the soundtrack for over 100 films and worked with directors such as Roman Polansky, Stephen Frears, George Clooney, Ben Affleck and Wes Anderson. He is also a jury member of the Film Festival Cannes and acted as jury president of the Film Festival of Venice.
The artistic director of Alexandre Desplat, DOMINIQUE LEMMONIER will report on her productions of movie scores such as “The Life of Pets”.
THE FILM MUSIC LOCATION VIENNA – THE SUCCESS STORY CONTINUES
In the course of 2016, Vienna has finally established itself as a film music location. The SYNCHRON STAGE VIENNA is already heavily booked by the Hollywood studios. Work and workflow of the Synchron Stage Vienna will be illustrated, where amongst others the Hollywood blockbuster “Inferno” was recorded this year: the cooperation of young Viennese composers with the Hollywood studios during music preparation, the work of the conductor, musicians working with click, and working with the audio editor software.

Who can attend: Young composers with sufficient knowledge in composition, orchestration, etc.This workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn from one of the leading Hollywood star – composers Alexandre Desplat, who will discuss your compositions with you. Please bring a USB stick with your scores and audio files of your compositions. There are only 10 people from outside the university admitted! Therefore we recommend registering early to guarantee your place. On the evening of 10.13.2016 there will be an exclusive tour at the Synchron Stage Vienna for participants of the Masterclass.
